IDW Publishing and Konami Present Metal Gear Solid - The Comic Book

IDW Publishing is very proud to announce that they are joining with video game giant Konami to publish their #1 video game franchise, Metal Gear Solid, as a comic book.

Metal Gear Solid is generally regarded as the premiere video game, having sold over 14 million units worldwide. The size and scope of this union is major news for both the comic book and video game worlds. The comic will make the perfect crossover vessel for both fans of the video game and readers of hard-hitting action comics.

The ongoing Metal Gear Solid series will be written by Kris Oprisko. Oprisko is well known for his adaptation work on the comic book Underworld, as well as his CSI Miami: Thou Shalt Not... offering. Award winner Ashley Wood brings his much-admired and utterly unique style to this action-packed series. Fans of the Metal Gear Solid game will find Wood's art a perfect fit for this property.

"As a huge video game fan, it's an honor and a thrill to work on Metal Gear Solid, which, in my opinion, is the greatest game of all time," says writer Kris Oprisko.

IDW Publishing will send free in-store promo posters, promo postcards, and a special 16-page, full-color ashcan book to direct market retailers. IDW Publishing will also promote Metal Gear Solid with a major media campaign.

Metal Gear Solid #1, a 32-page, full color comic book, will be released in September 2004 at a retail price of $3.99.
